Greg Krotech

Gregory George Kroetch, 56, died Friday, June 3, 2016, after battling cancer for nearly six years. He died at home with his family.

Greg was born Dec. 5, 1959, in Eau Claire, WI, to George Duane and Patricia Ann (Robinson) Kroetch. The family moved to Rapid City, SD, when Greg was in grade school, and he attended Rapid City schools and St. Martin’s Academy, graduating from Central High School in 1978.

In his childhood and teen years, he participated in Boy Scouts, orchestra, and could be found roaming the Black Hills with his buddies from Mountain Goat Sports. They skied, hiked, climbed frozen waterfalls, and generally enjoyed all that the Hills had to offer. He set off for California after graduation, working in the San Francisco bay area, where he met the love of his life, Diane L. Fenwick. They married on June 7, 1987; to this union, two daughters were born, Bridget Lynne in 1995 and Erin Ann in 1997. They were the delight of his life who shared his love of music, and he was immensely proud of them. All his family shared and enjoyed his love of the outdoors, including back country camping, hiking, cycling, and sailing.

Greg and Diane had moved to Colorado, where Greg completed his Bachelor of Science degree in computer science. He worked as an engineer for Scitor and SAIC, which partnered with Buckley Air Force Base and the U.S. Government.

Greg was preceded in death by his parents and a brother who died at birth named Marcus. He is survived by his wife, Diane, and his daughters, Bridget and Erin, of Parker; and his sisters, Sharon Ann Johnson of Custer, SD, and Erika Kroetch (Robb) Campbell and their daughters Ann and Elizabeth Campbell, of Spearfish, SD.

Episcopal services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 10, at Fairmount Cemetery in Denver. Interment and reception to follow on site.

Donations in Greg’s name may be made to Saint Mary Magdalene Episcopal Church in Boulder, Denver Hospice, or World Vision.
